Gangnam Style

So I HAD to make a post about Gangnam Style! As a Kpop fan, it would be a shame if I did not post it somewhere on here. For those of you who do not know what Gangnam Style is, it is one of the latest songs by Korean singer, Psy. The music video for the song was released on July 15th and went viral in mere days. Just to give you a bit of background on this song, Gangnam is a district within Seoul. It is known as a shopper's paradise as there are several stylish shops and an underground mall in the area.
In the music video, Psy pokes fun at guys trying to pick up girls in the Gangnam area. In the song he repeats
"Oppa, Gangnam style" which translates to "Girls, your big brother is Gangnam style". In Korean, "oppa" directly translates to "big brother", however, girls often will use it as a term of endearment to boys who are close to them like best friends or boyfriends. This video is hilarious and is awesomely random! It's no wonder it has become the summer hit!

Psy also released a follow-up music video to "Gangnam Style" featuring Hyuna. This time, it is more from the girl's point of view. In my opinion, it is nowhere near the level of epicness of the original and not as funny. Many people complain that Hyuna's voice becomes irritating very quickly but she does sound like that for a reason. She is poking fun at girls use aegyo. Aegyo is a term used to describe girls who act cute to attract guys. They will raise the pitch of their voice and behave in a way to make themselves seem helpless and needy. That is the story and Hyuna is sticking to it

What do you think hilariously epic or not so much? If neither does it for you, give this a try:

I Hate Luv Storys

No the title is not a typo nor is me trying to be "cool" by purposely writing with silly spelling errors. It is actually the title of a Bollywood movie- spelling included. "I Hate Luv Storys" is a humorous story of a guy name Jay who claimed to want nothing to do with love. Dating to him was all fun and games until he meets Simran, a girl who loves all things  romance. Thus begins Jay and Simran's love story....
Imran Khan is one of my favorite actors and I was not disappointed with this movie. I had so many laughs watching it- plus the music is fun and catchy, especially the title song. When that song begins I have to get up and dance! I LOVE IT!!

Mil gaye jo chhora chhori, huyi masti thodi thodi/ Bas pyaar ka naam na lena, i hate luv storysWhen a boy and girl meet, there is some fun/ Just don't utter the name of love, I hate love stories

Indian Gypsies

I must say, this is one of my favorite videos on youtube. It's just a tiny glimpse into the world of Indian gypsies but I love how freely the girl dances and the boy's singing is just lovely. When I'm feeling down or frustrated, I visit this video. Watching the children enjoying the music is very uplifting to me!

Me and My 2 Loves

When I was about four or five years old, I fell in love- and hard. It was a wonderful feeling, the kind every girl wishes she could have. I grew up with that same love. Through the years I gave him all of my love and care, and he’d show the same. It couldn’t get any better and as long as we were together, my life was complete- or so I thought. HE then came and snuck into my life.

He seduced and lured me in, tempting me with sweet words and a beautiful smile.  He almost had me until I thought and remembered the precious memories with my love. I backed away and thought, "No! I can't- I mustn’t! I've loved too much for so long! I can't just let it go!"
"Then don't." He whispered into my ear. I backed away. My head was spinning and reeling with his words. How could he say that it's so simple? It could never be so simple! Could it?

Days and weeks of my life passed and so did his. I continued with my love, only giving a sideways glance to my lingering temptation. He'd smile then look away, showering his current fancy with his attentions. Inside, I felt a prickling pain and thought, "That could be me!" But with a final snickering grin, he continued on, and I with my only love.
Months then passed. My love and I struggled to maintain our relationship. His mood swings and inconsistencies left exhausted and frustrated at night. As I worked long hours to make sense of his ways, I never complained. It was my labor of love. As long as he was by my side, I should be happy, right?

One night, my love and I quarreled once again. This time a simple “I love you” could not dissipate the lingering tension. Crumpled paper and books were tossed carelessly about the room and a mountain of my clothes lay in piles on the floor and bed. I looked to him holding my favorite blue and white ceramic bowl he had given to me during our high school years. I held it above my head preparing to toss it onto the floor. But I couldn’t.  All of our memories together, they were too precious to me. If I had tossed that bowl, it would mean I had given up on him- on us.

I backed away from him and gently placed the bowl back inside the kitchen cabinet. Feeling my throat tighten, I took a deep breath as I tried to reign in my frustration and tears. I looked at him as he sat with his now usual emotionless expression. He rose from his position and approached me with open arms, but still with an uncaring demeanor. I backed away before he could wrap his arms around me. No longer able to bare his detached affections, I did the only thing I could think of: I ran.

To be continued....

Aziatix's Eddie Shin <3
Recently, in light of the upcoming, Olympic games, Aziatix released their new single, "Ready, Set, Go!" which was written just for the occasion. It has a upbeat rock sound and the music video displays the making of the single's album art. Who says you can't make an awesome music video on a low budget? This is just another piece of art from one of my favorite music groups!

2012 Round-up

2012 looks to be a very promising year in the world music scene. In January, Japan's Koda Kumi released her 10th studio album, "Japonesque" along with a music video for just about every song on the album. Her "Driving Hit's 4" album was also released on the 14th of March. So far 2012 has been a very big year for the songstress as she has also annouced her engagement to BACK-On's KENJI03.

Also on March 14th, the Korean duo TVXQ (Tohoshinki) released their Japanese single, "Still".

On March 7th, Russia selected their representatives for the annual Eurovision contest, which will be held in May) and their selection may be a surprise. Out of 25 acts competing- including the ever popular duet between Dima Bilan & Julia Volkova, a group of 6 elderly women called Buranovskiye Babushki won over the favorites.
